The region is easily accessible from the major metropolises of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. From Islamabad and Lahore, National highway and Indus highway run parallel to each other entering the region from the north. Part of the highway routes are being upgraded to a motorway, which will reduce the Lahore – Multan drive to 3 hours. From Multan regional highways link Bahawalpur and Sukkur. In order to reach the infamous Derawar Fort from Bahawalpur, a dedicated district road runs through the Cholistan desert. Even though 2WD can drive to derawar fort with ease, it is preferable that a 4WD vehicle is used to make that journey. The region has a vibrant road network linking major attractions, however reaching Gorakh Hill Station from Sehwan is only possible with a 4WD vehicle with a good ground clearance as the track is quite rough and bumpy for a sedan or a conventional hatchback.
From Karachi, the area can be accessed through the National highway entering the area from the south. It takes an average of 7 hours to reach Sukkur via the National highway. District roads branching out from the National highway link all of the major attractions in the region.
